Calvin Garry Bryant, 61, of Greenville, a long-serving pastor and sheriff’s chaplain, died Aug. 10, 2008.
Born in York, Bryant was a graduate of North Greenville University, Gardner-Webb University and Southern Baptist Seminary. He was retired, having served as pastor of College Park Baptist Church in Rock Hill and Crosswell First Baptist Church in Greenville, where he was pastor for 23 years. He also served two churches in North Carolina.
He served until 2006 as chaplain of the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office. He was a member of Siloam Baptist Church in Powdersville.
Survivors include his wife, Carole McCarter Bryant, three sons and five grandchildren.
