The Baptist Courier

The 188th South Carolina Baptist Convention annual meeting will be held Nov. 11-12 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln St., Columbia.

The theme of this year’s meeting is Experience Kingdom Life. Messengers and guests will learn more about Experience Kingdom Life not only as the convention theme, but also as a new multi-year initiative. Messengers will also vote at this year’s meeting on the adoption of the Experience Kingdom Life initiative.

This year marks the return of the popular Lunch and Learn sessions offered for messengers Nov. 11. Sessions cover a variety of topics specifically geared for church leaders. Churches are encouraged to send members who serve in areas of ministry related to session topics.

Sessions include: Insurance Needs for Mission Trips; Tech-Wise for Worship; Risk Management: A Loss Control Perspective; Church Security: Preparing for the Unthinkable; Effective Outreach Tools; Do You Really Know Your Employees and Volunteers? How Background Screening Can Give You the Answers; and Taking Steps to Protect Children.

Lunch and Learn sessions are paid for by vendor sponsors and are free to participants. Registration is required.

The annual meeting will also feature a comprehensive exhibit hall with vendors specifically geared to meet the needs of churches.

Convention speakers will include Geoffrey Hammond, president, North American Mission Board, and Tom Tucker, pastor, Calvary Baptist Church in Rock Hill.

The Tuesday evening service will feature a sermon by convention president Eddie Leopard, pastor of Millbrook Baptist Church in Aiken.
