I haven’t seen the movie “Fireproof” with my wife yet, but we are planning to see it very soon. I did have the privilege of seeing the movie before it was released in theaters. In my opinion, it is a better quality movie than the earlier “Facing the Giants.”

You will notice right away that the acting is a mixture of both professional and amateur. It will not win any Academy Awards, but somehow I do not believe that is the mission of this film.
It is an inspirational movie that deals with the temptations both men and women face today. The gospel of Jesus Christ is presented in the film as the actors dialogue with each other in a scenario that is relevant for this age. It is definitely worth supporting. I believe it could be a very effective tool for helping struggling couples. In fact, it might be a great opportunity for a Christian couple to treat another couple to dinner and a movie.
I came away from the movie thinking that except for “The Passion of the Christ,” I have not been inclined to encourage people to see certain movies. This one is different. I have encouraged several couples already to see the movie. It may not instantly cure any serious marital issues, but it can touch hearts and create the kind of thoughts that can lead to the development of better relationships.
If you see it, you will likely be moved. It has enough variety, comedy and irony to make it interesting. In the end, the message a person can take away from this film is hope. Hope is a central ingredient in counseling. If just one struggling or drifting couple you know can see this movie and be moved to take the first steps toward building a more godly marriage, you will be blessed to know that you helped them.
Christian couples who are happily married will be encouraged from this presentation. It is not a high-budget production, but it does communicate some powerful concepts.
I see the movie as a good tool for helping people. It is a tool, but unlike many of the films that come to us today, it is a Christ-honoring tool. Most people who see it will be helped – some briefly and some for significantly longer.
