Honored to serve

The Baptist Courier

As a soldier serving in Iraq, I greatly appreciate being able log on to your Web site and get news from around the Baptist community.

Many people have asked what are the soldiers’ views of Iraq. I can’t speak for any soldier but myself. Many times there is negative media about some of the military efforts here in Iraq and Afghanistan. To that I would say, I am honored to be able to serve my God and country not only as a U.S. soldier but as a Christian soldier.

God tells us in Psalm 82:3-4, “Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. Rescue the weak and needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” I fully believe we are accomplishing that here in Iraq and will do the same in Afghanistan. Though progress may be slow at times, I have no doubt that with time we can accomplish our mission here as Christians and as soldiers.
