Leon Lewis Lancaster

Leon Lewis Lancaster, 86, of Fountain Inn, a retired pastor who served several churches across the state during a long ministry, died Sept. 6, 2008.

Born Oct. 13, 1921, in Fountain Inn, he served the following South Carolina churches: Bethabara Baptist Church, Cross Hill; Mechanicsville Baptist Church, Darlington; Thorn Hill Baptist Church, Kershaw; Durbin Baptist Church, Fountain Inn; Pine View Baptist Church, Kershaw; and Beulah Baptist Church, Fountain Inn. He also served a church in Whiteville, N.C.

He formerly served as a substitute teacher at Hillcrest High School and was an alumnus of Furman University. He was a member of Woodmen of the World and was a member of Clear Spring Baptist Church in Simpsonville.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mildred Wood Lancaster, three children, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
