Scholarships for South Carolina Baptist college/university and seminary students pursuing a church-related vocation are now available through the state convention’s collegiate ministry group.
Active resident members of a South Carolina Baptist church and enrolled in a South Carolina college/university and/or a Southern Baptist seminary are eligible to apply for the scholarship. An application must be made each year to be considered for the scholarship. Southern Baptist missionary dependents whose parents list South Carolina as their home state are also eligible to receive the scholarship.
All scholarships are based on financial need, and funds are sent directly to the institution to be applied for tuition, room and board, and academic fees. These funds are provided through the Cooperative Program and the Richard Furman Scholarship Fund.
College/university scholarships are awarded to full-time students who have made a public commitment to a church-related vocation, are active, resident members of a South Carolina Southern Baptist church for at least nine months prior to the beginning of the academic year, and agree to participate in a ministry-related experience each week.
Richard Furman Scholarships for seminary students are awarded to South Carolinians who are members of a Southern Baptist Convention church and attending one of the six Southern Baptist seminaries, which are: Golden Gate, Midwestern, New Orleans, Southeastern, Southern or Southwestern.
