A South Carolina pastor and former state convention president has been appointed by SBC president Johnny Hunt to chair the 70-member Committee on Committees of the Southern Baptist Convention.
David Gallamore, pastor of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Easley, will chair the committee when it assembles in Louisville just prior to the SBC’s June 23-24 annual meeting to nominate members of the Committee on Nominations, which in turn nominates trustees to serve on the boards of the various denominational entities.
David GallamoreJoining Gallamore on the Committee on Committees will be Ed Carney, pastor of Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Irmo. The Committee on Committee has two members from each of the 35 state or regional conventions that are qualified for representation on the boards of SBC entities.
Ten other South Carolinians are among the appointees to various SBC entities: North American Mission Board: Cleatus Blackmon, director of missions for Greer Baptist Association and a member of First Baptist, Greer, and Donna Medcalf, a member of Edwards Road Baptist, Greenville; LifeWay Christian Resources: Frank Reeder, North Charleston, for a second term; Southwestern Seminary: Jim Spencer, pastor of Brushy Creek Baptist, Easley, for a second term; Southeastern Seminary: Erik Estep, pastor of Village Church, Columbia Metro Baptist Association; Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission: Lee Bright, a member of Roebuck Baptist, Spartanburg County Baptist Network; Credentials Committee: Rob White, pastor of Trinity Baptist, Cayce; and Tellers Committee: Rock Hill pastors Steve Kirby, Rawlinson Road Baptist; Jerry Devinney, Oakdale Baptist; and Tom Tucker, Calvary Baptist.
