Every year on the Saturday night before Mother’s Day, Darlington Raceway hosts a big NASCAR race. Freedom Baptist Church in Darlington sits at the corner of Highway 401, right in the path of the traffic coming from the interstate. The Women on Mission of the church decided to feed the state troopers who work traffic for the race. With help from the Brotherhood, they prepared a grilled barbecue chicken meal and opened the church for six hours as a rest center for the officers. More than 200 meals were served.

Charleston Southern University sophomore Josh Gale assists his buddy Henry O’Grady at the Summerville Miracle League. Gale says it’s a blessing to spend time on Saturdays at the Saul Alexander Park in Summerville with the Summerville Miracle League. The league provides children with disabilities a place to come and play baseball with counselors who give of their time to build relationships and practice their faith. Gale is one of many CSU volunteers who spend several hours each Saturday to work with the league. CSU is a sponsor of one of the four teams that plays each Saturday. The team, appropriately named the Buccaneers, is supported each week with volunteers from the football team, residence life, Student Government Association and Campus Crusade for Christ.
