Robert Coleman, professor of discipleship and evangelism at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, will be the featured speaker at “Shepherding the Shepherd,” Sept. 24-26, at the newly renovated White Oak Conference Center.

Shepherding the Shepherd was begun in the mid-1990s by the South Carolina Baptist Convention as an annual three-day renewal opportunity for pastors and spouses.

Coleman’s book on evangelism, “The Master Plan of Evangelism,” has been in print for 30 years. During two plenary sessions, Coleman will speak on “The Triumph of the Church” and “Resting in the Will of God.”

Praise and worship leader will be Atlanta-area musician Jake Gulledge. “Shepherding” participants will enjoy an outdoor barbecue on Friday evening, followed by a movie under the stars. The swimming pool, lake activities, board games, volleyball and peaceful walks will be available for personal and group fellowship time. For those interested, the White Oak theater will feature, on a large-screen television, Thursday’s college football game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Ole Miss Rebels.

Registration for Shepherding the Shepherd is $175 per couple. Space is limited to 70 rooms. For registration information, contact Lee Douglas, team assistant, SCBC church vitalization team, at (803) 765-0030 or by e-mail at leedouglas@scbaptist.org. Online registration is available at www.scbaptist.org/shepherding 2009.htm.

White Oak Conference Center has undergone a $1.5 million construction and renovation project, providing a full-service caf?, 28-seat theater, creative learning spaces, outdoor fire pit and activity areas. The Hub, a large, open center of activity, replaced the smaller, more closed areas that once included the center’s canteen, gift shop and lobby. In addition to its new amenities, The Hub also serves as White Oak’s main entrance and guest registration area.
