During a regular meeting of the South Carolina Baptist Convention Executive Board Dec. 10 at the SCBC building in Columbia, the board said goodbye to members rotating off and elected officers for 2010.

Wofford Caughman, pastor of Southside Baptist Church in Broad River, was elected vice chairman, and Keith Davis, pastor of Zion Hill Baptist Church in Spartanburg, was elected secretary.
The Nominations Committee presented recommendations for standing committee assignments for new board members and individuals to serve as chair and vice chair of standing committees.
In keeping with tradition at the December meeting, convention staff members with five, 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of service were recognized.
A recommendation was approved from the properties committee to use proceeds from the sale of the Baptist Campus Ministries property near Wofford College to purchase property near the University of South Carolina Upstate in Spartanburg.
Jim Austin, SCBC executive director-treasurer, challenged the Executive Board to promote the Lottie Moon offering this year for foreign missions. He said that now is a time when resources are low and receptivity to the gospel is high. – SCBC
