

The youth of Cassatt Baptist Church, Kershaw Baptist Association, recently visited and sang Christmas carols for elderly residents of their community. “We have the greatest bunch of youth groupers there are,” said Dianne Rutledge, a member of Cassatt Baptist. “Even though we have been without a youth pastor now for a year and a half, they are still committed and involved in ministry.”

The Martha Franks Singers, who have appeared at more than 200 churches, recently presented their Christmas program to a packed audience over two nights at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community. The group is made up of senior adults from various churches and communities in the area as well as residents of the retirement center. Joe Greer is director.

Heights Baptist Church, Beech Island, held its annual Christmas gift box distribution on Dec. 12. More than 600 gift boxes were given to children from Aiken County.

The GAs/Acteens and RAs of Flat Rock Baptist Church, Liberty, held a “Rock-A-Thon” competition on Nov. 14 to fund their second annual food drive. Raising money through pledges from church members, family, friends and local businesses, the teams of boys and girls had to keep their chairs “rocking” for the entire six-hour event. In addition, women from the church sponsored “Lunches-to-Go” following the morning worship service on Nov. 15. Carry-out meals were available for a donation, with proceeds going toward the fundraiser. The mission project brought in more than $1,900, surpassing last year’s total of $300. With assistance from Ingles Supermarket in Liberty, the boys and girls also helped purchase and deliver canned goods and other supplies to Gleaning House Ministries in Pickens and United Christian Ministries in Easley on Dec. 2.
