Sixteen members of the Women on Mission group of Coronaca Baptist Church, Greenwood, made 25 fleece blankets as a mission project in November. The blankets were shipped to a church member’s son who is serving in the military at Camp Phoenix in Afghanistan. The blankets were given to the needy in Afghanistan as a means of sharing God’s love.
The fleece was purchased by members of the women’s group and others in the church. The shipping costs were paid by donations from church members.
Past projects for the women’s group have included providing diapers and wipes for a home for unwed mothers, collecting food items for a treatment facility for alcohol and drug abusers, providing a meal for volunteer medical personnel at a free medical clinic, and providing snacks for a local hospice. Most projects are ongoing and are done at least once each year.
