Pastor to Pastor – by Brad Whitt

The Baptist Courier

I have always held a special affinity and affection for pastors. I would imagine that this comes from growing up in a pastor’s home and being introduced to great pastors during my childhood and teenage years.

Brad Whitt

Through the years, I have seen the tireless ministry and ceaseless love that pastors have given to the churches and communities that they have been called to serve. That’s not to say that pastors are perfect, for we all know that we’re not, but still there is a special place not only in my heart, but also in the heart of God for those who are serving the Lord by serving his local church.

That’s one of the reasons why I am so honored and excited to serve you this year as president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention’s Pastor’s Conference. My greatest personal desire this year is to be a blessing to you and your family. That’s why we have been working hard to put together a Pastor’s Conference that will equip and encourage you in the work you are doing in and through your local church.

That’s why I want to ask you right now to begin to help me help you. Let’s make this the best Pastor’s Conference this state has ever had. I need you to make plans on being at Riverland Hills Baptist Church on Monday, Nov. 15. You will hear dynamic, anointed preaching from pastors like James Merritt, David Landrith and Ken Whitten. You will get to hear how God can use you in your setting from pastors like Frank Cox, Mike Stone and John Hays.

There will even be a Pastor’s Forum during the lunch break, in which you’ll be able to eat and ask practical ministry questions of some of our Pastor’s Conference preachers.

Then, to make sure we not only feed our hearts, but our heads also, we’ll be challenged by Emir Caner as well. All of this while enjoying dynamic, authentic worship throughout the day and ending with a tremendous time of worship led by Charles Billingsley. It’s going to be a great day.

So I want to ask you to make plans now to join with me and other pastors from all across this state for this year’s SCBC Pastor’s Conference. I promise you won’t regret it.

I want to thank The Baptist Courier for allowing me to connect with you through this column this year. I also want to encourage you to become a part of the process by following our progress on the 2010 SCBC Pastor’s Conference fan page on Facebook and on Twitter @SCBCPastorsConf.

It’s going to be a great year, and I look forward to serving you as you serve the Lord.
