South Carolina Baptists nominated for SBC boards

South Carolinians are represented on a slate of nominees selected for approval to serve on various Southern Baptist Convention-related boards by the 2010 SBC Committee on Nominations.

Nominees tapped to serve on the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee, the four denominational boards – International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, LifeWay Christian Resources and GuideStone Financial Resources – the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, the six seminaries and the Committee on Order of Business were recently announced.

Nominees will serve if elected by the messengers to the annual meeting of the Southern Baptist Convention, June 15-16 in Orlando, Fla.

South Carolina nominees include:

– SBC Executive Committee: Ron E. Lynch, pastor, Siloam Baptist Church, Easley, replacing Margaret M. Brown, Mountain Rest, who declined to serve a second term;

– Guidestone Financial Resources: M. O’Neal Miller Jr., layperson and member of Langston Baptist Church, Conway, replacing M. Truman Fallaw, Columbia;

– International Mission Board: Henry L. Holland, Sumter (second term);

– LifeWay Christian Resources: George E. Goudelock, layperson and member of First Baptist Church, Hartsville, replacing Kent Holt, Spartanburg;

– New Orleans Seminary: D.J. Horton, pastor, Anderson Mill Road Baptist Church, Moore, replacing James R. (Rudy) Gray, Seneca;

– Southeastern Seminary: Chester H. (Sonny) Holmes Jr., North Charleston (second term).
