
The Children in Action of Talatha Baptist Church, Aiken, helped decorate dolls sewn by the church’s Woman’s Missionary Union for use by missionaries as ministry tools for teaching the love of Jesus. The dolls have eyes closed and open, symbolizing life before and after meeting Jesus. The girl dolls also wear necklaces showing “salvation colors” as a teaching tool for the missionaries. Eight members from Faith Fellowship Baptist Church in Pendleton recently served with a team of 28 people in Tanzania, Africa. The team witnessed the planting of 20 churches and more than 3,100 salvations. The South Carolina Baptist Ministry Assistants Association gathered on May 13-15 for their state meeting at Sweetwater Baptist Church, North Augusta. More than 70 church and association ministry assistants participated in training and fellowship activities during the event. WMU members and others from Steep Bottom Baptist Church, Estill, took a trip to Connie Maxwell Children’s Home’s Brookland campus in Orangeburg on May 1. Bethel Baptist Church, Prosperity, welcomed two former military servicemen as guest speakers at a recent Sunday evening service. Jackie Bayne (right), of Fort Mill, spoke of his multiple brushes with death while in Vietnam. He was twice left for dead but later resuscitated. Today, from his wheelchair, Bayne attributes his “three salvation experiences” to his lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Eric Edmundson, of New Bern, N.C., a quadriplegic who lost his voice when he was injured in Afghanistan, communicated his love for God and the outdoors through a special voice device.

A group of teenagers from Kilbourne Park Baptist Church, Columbia, spent the day of June 2 ministering to the residents at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens. They ate lunch with the residents and got them to answer question sheets about their lives as Christians through the years. The teens led the chapel service, singing and sharing their testimonies. They finished the day by doing some clean-up work around the campus. “The young people from Kilbourne Park are a great picture of what tomorrow’s church leaders can be,” said Lisa Yarber, director of marketing at Martha Franks. “They had their heads, hearts and hands all serving the Lord and others.”
