RevisHovie Dee Revis Jr., 85, of Greenville, a long-serving Upstate pastor, died July 6, 2010.
Born June 15, 1925, in Pickens County, he graduated from Furman University and Southeastern Seminary. He was a Baptist minister for more than 60 years and served as president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention in 1975. He was a member of Leawood Baptist Church, Greenville.
Revis served in Italy during World War II with the U.S. Army’s last horse-mounted cavalry.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Finley Revis, three children, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was previously married to Frances Hudgens Revis, who preceded him in death in 2007.
