Jones authors ‘Teach Us to Pray’

A retired pastor from Conway whose “life as a maturing Christian has been punctuated by the firm belief that God hears and answers prayer” is the author of a recent book entitled “Teach Us to Pray.”

Randall Jones, formerly pastor of Langston Baptist Church in Conway, declares in the preface of the 86-page book that throughout the Bible “every move of God is a result of someone praying.”

Jones says he has been led to a life of “expectant prayer living.” It is a life, he writes, of “God’s presence, God’s abundance and God’s power,” adding his belief that “the need of the present Christian community is to once again learn to pray.”

The volume contains chapters examining such topics as “Prayer is the Key to Heaven,” “Abiding in the Spirit,” “How to Pray for the Lost,” and “Fasting and Prayer.”

He concludes the book with a look at Psalm 91, which he calls “the Christian’s 911 call.” The entire Psalm,” says the Conway pastor, “recites the areas of life in which God has promised to provide for us.”

The book is available from the author at drrjones@sccoast.net and www.embracedevangelism.com. Jones is a former president of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and founder of the annual Coastal Evangelism Conference.
