First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Greenwood, celebrated 200 years of worship and ministry at a homecoming service Oct. 3.
Constituted in 1810, First Mt. Moriah met the spiritual and worship needs of Baptists who settled around the village of Greenwood. First pastored by Robert Marsh, the church has been led by many pastors over the past two centuries.
H. Bryant Sims, pastor since 2004, is leading the congregation to “focus on kingdom priorities” with an emphasis on ministry and missions.
The people of First Mt. Moriah have just begun worshipping in a newly constructed 10,000-square-foot multipurpose building.
