Supporting Baptist schools

The Baptist Courier

Our Baptist universities receive only a small percentage of their operating budgets from the South Carolina Baptist Convention, but that amount of support is important. The convention needs the connection to the universities more than the universities need the convention. The Bible teaches that we are to live in the world, but not be of the world. Our Baptist universities provide a valid conduit into the world, one that we should value as Great Commission stewards.

Because of its proximity, North Greenville University is the most familiar to me, and it is an excellent representative of the message of South Carolina Baptists to its constituency. Certainly we are dealing with difficult economic times; but, hopefully, our leaders will not let dollar signs unduly influence their decisions regarding support for our Baptist universities.
