Ray’s new book sparks laughter

The Baptist Courier

In his more than 50 years of ministry, Dan Ray of Greer has heard, told and re-told countless humorous stories. And now he has compiled some of the best of those into a new book entitled “Laughing with the Reverend.”

In his lengthy ministerial career, Ray has been a pastor, denominational executive, director of missions and church administrator, all of which have convinced him that “good, clean humor is wholesome and extremely beneficial.”

“So much that is experienced in life is sadness and sorrow that it seems God has enabled us to ease the pain with humor and laughter,” said Ray in the foreword of the book.

The 247-page book has a broad range of topics – experiences in church, in the home and around the world. Stories about baptisms include “Not yet – let’s wait” and “The water is warm – I promise.” There are also stories such as “How to bathe a cat,” “Frog noise please,” and “Golfing at night.”

Ray said he hopes his book will “contribute a little joy” to the lives of is readers. “Laughing with the Reverend” is available from the author, Dan A. Ray, 111 Sheffield Road, Greer, S.C. 29651 or at www.dan-ray.com; Amazon.com; Barnes & Noble; and Xulon Press Bookstore.
