CONCLAVE, a worship and training event for student ministry workers, was held Feb. 3-5 at the Chattanooga (Tenn.) Convention Center and involved several South Carolinians.
Russell and Kristi Johnson, worship leaders from Conway.One-third of all full-time youth workers in South Carolina, as well as many volunteers, attended.
Thirteen states were represented, with more than 1,100 participants. Steve Rohrlack, Karen Prevatte, and Cory Singleton of the South Carolina Baptist Convention were an integral part of the planning team for the event.
Chris Jackson, student pastor from Holly Springs Baptist Church, Inman, brought his brother Chip as well as Josh Lamb, an 11th-grade student leader who attends Chapman High School. Jackson said he needed the time of refreshment and renewal.
First-time attendee Jill Lybrand is a recent graduate of Charleston Southern University with a youth ministry degree. She said she was impressed with the number of vendors at the event and gained some new ideas for the future.
Don Wilton and Seth Buckley, pastor and student minister, respectively, of First Baptist Church, Spartanburg, led a breakout session on the importance of partnership between the pastor and the student minister.

Chad Carroll, youth pastor at Clearmont Church, Westminster, and his wife Shena assisted with registration.
Several ministries from South Carolina were among the 93 exhibitors, including Bill Cox (Concoxions), Kyle Mitchell and Bri Rabano (See Palms Missions), Russell and Kristi Johnson (Conway-area worship leaders and concert artists), and Todd Wood (Impact Resort Missions, Myrtle Beach).
