Glenwood Baptist Church, Easley, honored pastor Dale McCoig and his wife, Marianne, on Jan. 9 with a trip to the Holy Land. Pictured with the McCoigs are the Glenwood deacons and staff, who presented the gift on behalf of the congregation in recognition of the McCoigs’ 10 years of service.

 

Red Bank Baptist Church, Saluda, founded in 1784, celebrated the centennial of its present sanctuary (top photo) on Feb. 13. The building was designed by Joseph Casey, architect of several of the original buildings at Anderson University. On hand were former pastor James R. Watterson (1988-1994) and family members of Amos Clary, the first pastor to serve in the existing building. T.E. Robinett, pastor from 1945-1953, delivered the sermon. Brent Hardy was ordained to the ministry on Feb. 6 by Cleveland First Baptist Church, where he is currently serving as minister of students and evangelism. Hardy is also enrolled in the master of divinity program at New Orleans Seminary. Pictured with Hardy (center) are Hal Parris (left), pastor of Cleveland First Baptist, who gave the charge; and Donald Foreman, who preached the ordination message.

 

Fifteen members from the senior adult group at Evergreen Baptist Church, Effingham, attended a Guy Penrod concert at White Oak this past December. While there, they enjoyed a tour of the facilities.

 

Hollywood Baptist Church, Saluda, observed its first anniversary on Feb. 7, and has much to celebrate: The church has grown from 39 founding members to a current attendance of 92 and a total of 16 baptisms for the year. Dan Gardner is pastor at Hollywood Baptist.

 

Nick Fox, right, was licensed to the ministry by First Baptist Church, Bowman, on Jan. 17. Pictured with Fox is pastor Jim Fanning. Fox’s father, Dean Fox, was pastor at Bowman First Baptist from 1994-2006.

 

Memorial Baptist Church, Olar, held its ninth annual Connie Maxwell Children’s Home Valentine fundraiser on Feb. 6. Four children decorated shoeboxes and collected a total of $583. Pictured from left are Chandler Hiers (the boy who collected the most money), Bryce Tucker, Chloe Tucker (the girl who collected the most money), and Kristen Waltz (far right).

 

The Women on Mission of Centenary Baptist Church, Marion Baptist Association, treated the residents of Marion Nursing Center to a birthday party in January. Cake and ice cream were served, and all who celebrated birthdays during the month received a gift. Pictured is Geraldine Gibson (right), WOM director, with one of the residents.
