Red Bank Baptist Church, Saluda, founded in 1784, celebrated the centennial of its present sanctuary (top photo) on Feb. 13. The building was designed by Joseph Casey, architect of several of the original buildings at Anderson University. On hand were former pastor James R. Watterson (1988-1994) and family members of Amos Clary, the first pastor to serve in the existing building. T.E. Robinett, pastor from 1945-1953, delivered the sermon. Brent Hardy was ordained to the ministry on Feb. 6 by Cleveland First Baptist Church, where he is currently serving as minister of students and evangelism. Hardy is also enrolled in the master of divinity program at New Orleans Seminary. Fifteen members from the senior adult group at Evergreen Baptist Church, Effingham, attended a Guy Penrod concert at White Oak this past December. While there, they enjoyed a tour of the facilities.
Hollywood Baptist Church, Saluda, observed its first anniversary on Feb. 7, and has much to celebrate: The church has grown from 39 founding members to a current attendance of 92 and a total of 16 baptisms for the year. Dan Gardner is pastor at Hollywood Baptist.

Memorial Baptist Church, Olar, held its ninth annual Connie Maxwell Children’s Home Valentine fundraiser on Feb. 6. Four children decorated shoeboxes and collected a total of $583. The Women on Mission of Centenary Baptist Church, Marion Baptist Association, treated the residents of Marion Nursing Center to a birthday party in January.
