A former World Series MVP and an All-American college football player will be on hand May 12 for a “Go to Bat for Children” event at Fluor Field in Greenville to raise awareness and support for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home.

The event will include a meal, hot-air balloon rides and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit Connie Maxwell, which operates campuses in Greenwood, Mauldin, Chesterfield, Florence and Orangeburg.

The evening will also feature guest speakers Bobby Richardson, former New York Yankee World Series MVP, and Connie Maxwell alumnus Kadarron Anderson, All-American linebacker at Furman University.

Ben Davis, president of Connie Maxwell, said the event will be sponsored by Children’s Champions, a support group for the children’s home’s ministry to neglected and abused children. Connie Maxwell provides residential care for more than 200 children of diverse needs and backgrounds each year.
