Robert Wallace Lawson Sr., 90, of Rock Hill, a retired pastor and missionary, died March 19, 2011.
LawsonBorn in Union, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the first men’s graduating class of Coker College and was a graduate of Southeastern Seminary.
Lawson was ordained in 1949 and served in ministry for more than 50 years. He was a former home missionary for the Southern Baptist Convention, serving in Mexico. He was pastor of Sisk Memorial Church in Fort Mill until his retirement.
After his retirement, he was director of the Love Center Benevolence Ministry of Faith Assembly and co-founder of the Bridge Builders in Rock Hill. He was a member of Park Ridge Church in Rock Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Marie J. Lawson, three children, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and two grandsons.
