William “Bill” Henry Lee, 84, of Westminster, a long-serving pastor, died March 5, 2011.

He pastored the following Baptist churches in South Carolina during his ministry: Damascus Church in Long Creek, Toxaway Church in Westminster, Cross Roads Church in Westminster, Belmont Church in Mountain Rest and Northside Church in Walhalla.

Born in Oconee County, he was former assistant superintendent for the Walhalla Water Department and a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

He served as chaplain of the Oconee County Purple Heart Association and was a member of the American Legion. He was a member of Westminster First Church.

Survivors include his wife, Lucy Ellen Wilson Lee, three children, 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons.
