Jeff BriggsJEFF BRIGGS, department chair for sport management at North Greenville University, was honored recently by South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities during its annual Excellence in Teaching awards ceremony in Columbia. “This year’s award recipients demonstrated a remarkable blend of scholarship, passion, commitment, and the ability to motivate students to new heights, said Sara Fisher, chair of the SCICU board of trustees. SCICU was established in 1953 with the primary mission of promoting independent higher education in South Carolina. SCICU seeks to advance independent higher education through fundraising, scholarships, research, and by facilitating collaborative activities among its 20 member institutions, which educate nearly 34,000 students each year.
Bryan CribbBRYAN CRIBB, assistant professor of Christian Studies at Anderson University, has been presented an Excellence in Teaching Award by South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities. A characteristic of nominees for the award is their demonstration of the highest standards in teaching methods that encourage students to strive for excellence. The award includes a $3,000 professional development grant. “I am humbled and challenged by this award,” Cribb said, “and I feel privileged to be at an institution that models teaching excellence and Christian higher education. I view the SCICU grant as a stewardship, and I look forward to using it toward implementing new and innovative methods and technology in the classroom.”
