About 225 people attended, said Miller Murphy, communications director for Connie Maxwell. “It was a great success,” he said, “and included a lot of support from local WMU groups, churches, alumni, regular supporters and other folks.”

The event featured a meal and a silent auction, along with guest speakers Bobby Richardson, former New York Yankee and World Series MVP, and Connie Maxwell alumnus Kadarron Anderson, an All-American linebacker at Furman University.

Connie Maxwell operates campuses in Greenwood, Mauldin, Chesterfield, Florence and Orangeburg, providing residential care for more than 200 children of diverse needs and backgrounds each year.

“We had great support from the community,” Murphy said. “The response was rather amazing.”
