Padgett’s Creek Church, Union, recently honored Sharon Harris (left) on her retirement as church treasurer. Pictured with Harris are incoming treasurer Nicole Harmon, who presented a plaque of appreciation to Harris on behalf of the congregation, and pastor Carrol Caldwell.

 

Wayne Cash, pastor of Pine Ridge First Church, in Hartsville, recently celebrated his fifth anniversary at the church. On April 2, Cash’s family joined the congregation to honor him on his achievement. Cash also received a congratulatory “parchment” signed by members of the church.

 

Rock Springs Church, Easley, held an appreciation dinner May 31 for Alvin Mahaffey (left), to honor his 43 years of service as church treasurer. Pictured with Mahaffey, who has been a member at Rock Springs for 56 years, are his wife Dot and pastor David Gallamore, who presented a plaque to Mahaffey on behalf of the congregation.

 

Fairview Church, Spartanburg, held Vacation Bible School May 30-June 3, with “Big Apple Adventure” as the theme. A total of 105 children enrolled, with an average nightly attendance of 135. Commencement was held on Sunday night, June 5, followed by a hotdog and homemade ice cream supper. Nine salvations were reported, and an offering of $512.42 was collected for North American Mission Board missionary Andrew Mann and his dog “Proof” of Graffiti 2 Community Ministries, Bronx, N.Y., who were featured in the VBS missions curriculum. Jan Childers is VBS director and Ty Childers is pastor at Fairview.

 

Cornerstone Church, Aiken, recently licensed to ministry two of its members on two consecutive Sundays. Pictured are Ken Hechmer (second from left), who was licensed on May 29, with his wife Terri; and Tom Norris (second from right), who was licensed on June 5, with his wife Vickie.
