Letter: Can one speak from beyond grave?

The Baptist Courier

Yes, what we do while we are alive speaks, and how we leave our estate can also speak loudly. Sarah Ballard was a good teacher while she was alive and a good teacher in her death. Sarah lived to be 100 years old, and many of those years were spent in serving Christ and teaching at East Park Baptist Church in Greenville.

Sarah believed that honoring God with a tithe of her income was important. She also believed that she would honor God with a tithe of her estate. She specifically stated in her will that 10 percent of her estate would be given to East Park.

In keeping with her teaching, the deacons of East Park decided that a tithe of this gift will be given to missions. They are dividing the tithe eight ways in differing amounts to mission causes.

“To God be the glory, great things He has done.”
