No rate increase for Courier subscribers

The Baptist Courier

For the second consecutive year, readers of The Baptist Courier will not see a subscription rate increase for their state denominational newspaper.

The Courier’s board of trustees, meeting Sept. 8, voted to hold the line on subscription plan prices for 2011-2012, including the Church Family Plan, which enables churches to send the Courier to all active families at a heavily discounted rate.

“We want to be sensitive toward our churches in this economy,” said Courier editor Don Kirkland.

“While it might be expected that subscription rates would increase incrementally as our own expenses – particularly for printing and mailing – continue to rise, we do not think this is a good time to pass along those costs, given the plight of so many of our churches who are struggling with their own budgets,” he said.

Kirkland said the price for the Church Family Plan will remain at $7 per active family for a one-year subscription. The Courier’s Church Family Plan is among the lowest-priced subscription plans of all state Baptist papers, he added.

The Church Group Plan – where churches send the Courier to some, but not all, active families – will remain at $13.50 per subscription. Individual subscriptions will hold steady at $16.
