On Sunday, Sept. 11, Northside Church held a grand opening celebration for the church’s new facility on Sunset Boulevard in Lexington. The service drew more than 2,000.

The multipurpose building has combined worship/fellowship space and education space for preschool, children and students. The building also houses Northside Christian Academy. Phase 2 of construction will include a recreation facility with a gym and office space. Phase 3 will see construction of the formal worship center. Also planned are missionary housing and a prayer chapel.
“We are excited that the vision God gave us is finally becoming a reality,” said pastor Rocky Purvis.
The church will have both blended and contemporary services and activities for preschool, children and students.
“We felt God showing us that now is the right time for us to build, and he has shown his provision in so many ways throughout this project. We are honored to have the opportunity to reach our community from such a strategic location,” said Purvis.
On Sunday, Purvis began a new sermon series entitled “Apps for Life,” discussing topics everyone desires for their lives – love, kindness, peace, patience, gentleness, faithfulness and self-control. The church also honored first responders who serve Lexington County as part of a Sept. 11 memorial.
