David Little, associational missionary (director of missions) for Lakelands Association, will be nominated by Chuck Sprouse, pastor of First Baptist Church, Ninety Six, and moderator of Lakelands Association, at the Nov. 16 closing session of the annual meeting in Columbia.

Little joins Easley pastor Brad Atkins as the second nominee for SCBC president.

“I know these are difficult times for South Carolina Baptists and for Baptists in general,” Little told the Courier. “After praying about it and talking with my leadership, I’ve decided it’s something the Lord wants me to do, so I’m willing to be nominated – not because I want to, but because I feel led to.”

Sprouse said he will nominate Little at the official request of messengers at the association’s fall meeting “because he is a seasoned leader with the heart and experience to navigate South Carolina Baptists through what appear to be challenging days ahead.”

Little was first vice president of the state convention in 2008 and has served on the SCBC Executive Board. He was a pastor in Aiken and St. George for 15 years and was director of missions for Chesterfield Association before joining Lakelands Association more than seven years ago. He is a member of Abbeville First Baptist Church.
