To even entertain the idea of changing the name of the Southern Baptist Convention is obviously absurd and a prime example of trying to fix something that isn’t broken.
SBC has been an effective, recognized name to be proud of for 166 years and has long-standing mission affiliations around the world. It is absolutely illogical and ridiculous to consider a name change after all these years.
Everyone understands the name “Southern Baptist” doesn’t limit it to any particular region or group of people.
There are many other important issues that need to be addressed and corrected such as low church attendance, need for real revival, and seeing souls saved in our churches and around the world.
It is ludicrous to even consider a name change. I believe it will continue to work effectively until our Lord calls Southern Baptists and all Christians home.
As your article stated, the only name that matters is His. Are we living up to that holy name?
