Letters: Honoring vows ‘in sickness’

The Baptist Courier

In response to “Alzheimer’s, Pat Robertson & the True Gospel” (Sept. 29): My mother developed Alzheimer’s at an early age. My dad stayed with her. He had to put her in a nursing home, but he visited her many times during those years because he still loved her.

Even though she mentally wasn’t there, true love was. Just because a person has Alzheimer’s, it does not mean they can’t hear or can’t experience pain, joy, or love. They can. My dad showed “in sickness” that he honored the marriage vows, and he set an example for others.
