I write this article with great expectation concerning the 2011 South Carolina Baptist Pastor’s Conference. I am really encouraged by the pastors who say they are praying and looking forward to coming together for worship and fellowship on Nov. 14 at Trinity Baptist Church in Cayce. It has been a year of praying and preparing for this special time together. I am excited in knowing that this is going to be a tremendous time of praise, preaching and encouragement for pastors and their wives, staff members, and others who will attend from all over our great state.

It really blesses me to know that the choir of Trinity Baptist Church will be joining with the North Spartan Association combined choir, led by Tim Hammett of Green Point Baptist Church, Boiling Springs, in doing music with one of the greatest songwriters in gospel music today – Mike Speck, along with his wife and daughter who make up the Mike Speck Trio. Brother Mike will lead our praise and worship throughout the day. Lee James, of Fairview Baptist Church, Spartanburg, will be the pianist for the day.
During each of the three sessions, a pastor and his wife will be presented a Timothy + Barnabas Scholarship by Woodstock Baptist Church in Georgia. The scholarship will be for a pastor and wife retreat at Stone Mountain, Ga., and will be led by Dr. Johnny Hunt and his wife, Janet. Right before the evening session, pastors will have the opportunity to pick up – free of charge – books authored by Dr. Phil Waldrep. The pastors’ wives will be presented with a token of appreciation by the North Spartan WMU. Mike Speck has graciously offered to give away a CD to each pastor.
On Nov. 14, my desire is for you, pastors and wives, to be encouraged through the preaching of God’s word, the uplifting music, along with the generosity of those who care for you and appreciate your laboring in the work of the Lord. I look forward to being with you at the 2011 South Carolina Baptist Pastor’s Conference.
So come! Be encouraged!
