Redden Thames, 90, of Lexington, died Nov. 23, 2022.
He was a graduate of Stetson University and Southern Seminary, and did graduate studies at Chandler School of Theology. He received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Stetson in 1971.
A retired minister, he served as pastor of Baptist churches in Florida, Kentucky and South Carolina. He was named Rural Minister of South Carolina in 1965 and served as Guest Chaplain to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1966.
Survivors include his wife, Joyce Thames, five children, eight grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanna Thames, in 2003.
