North Greenville University is the new owner of the former Steak and Ale restaurant building in Greenville, appraised at $1.6 million.

Greenville real estate developer and philanthropist T. Walter Brashier said Oct. 20 he gave the property to the school so the university would have a presence near downtown Greenville.

Possible uses for the 7,000-square-foot facility are to house the school’s adult continuing education program and extension offices for development and admissions, according to a news release from the university.

Brashier’s support of North Greenville University spans a period of four decades, and the university’s graduate school bears his name.

“He has been a friend of North Greenville University for a long time,” said NGU president Jimmy Epting. “Words cannot adequately express how God has used his servant to make a tremendous difference for many years to come.”
