More than 100 South Carolina Baptists gathered at Trinity Baptist Church, Cayce, on Oct. 20 for “Awaken – A Day of Prayer.”
Prayers were lifted for revival in South Carolina, in the South Carolina Baptist Convention and across the nation.
John Meador, pastor of First Baptist Church, Euless, Texas, was the speaker. Meador told participants that before revival can take place at state and national levels, it must first take place in the hearts of believers. He ended each session with prayer in small groups. For two hours, attendees prayed about topics addressed in each session.
Also shown at the conference were video messages from Jamie Work, pastor of Candies Creek Church, in Cleveland, Tenn., and Claude King, discipleship specialist at LifeWay Christian Resources. Work shared about the six-week revival that took place in his church and spilled over into the surrounding community. King shared the vision of the 40-day “Awaken” national prayer challenge coming up in January. (To watch the videos, visit www.scbaptist.org or www.prayinfo.info. “The prayer conference was one of the best things I have ever been to,” said SCBC president Sonny Holmes. – SCBC
