‘Send North America’ targets churches

It doesn’t get any easier to get involved in starting new churches than through Send North America, the North American Mission Board’s church-planting emphasis aimed at mobilizing churches.

According to Walter Mickels, NAMB’s associate vice president for the South region, only about 4 percent of Southern Baptist churches are involved in church planting.

“That’s why partnership in church planting is important – we can do more together than we can individually,” Mickels said. “Collaboration increases the ability to fulfill the Great Commission.”

Churches can click on the “Mobilize Me” button on NAMB.net to get involved in church planting on a variety of levels – from praying for a specific area or church planter, to financially supporting a new church or planter, to sponsoring a church. The goal is for churches to get active in church planting.

“We are doing everything we can to increase the capacity for churches to plant new churches,” Mickels said.
