Tom Capps

TOM CAPPS, missions mobilization consultant for Greer Association since 2007, has been named interim director of missions for the association. He began his new duties Nov. 1 following the Oct. 31 retirement of Cleatus Blackmon after 13 years as the association’s DOM. Capps, a Greenville native, has served on the staffs of six churches in the fields of youth, music and education, including First Baptist in Lancaster and Northgate Baptist in Greenville. He is part-time associate pastor for Victor Baptist Church, Greer. A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he began his career in public education while also serving First Baptist Church of Hillsborough, N.C., as minister of music and youth. Capps is married to the former Crystal Waller, who is one of 35 Mission Service Corps workers in South Carolina. They have two married children, Heather and Josh.

 

 

 

 

Matt Herring

MATT HERRING was called as minister of music and youth by Edgefield First Baptist Church on Oct. 23. A native of Edgefield County, he previously served at Providence Baptist Church and Johnston First Baptist Church. Herring earned a bachelor of arts degree in church music from Newberry College and is currently working on a master of ministry degree at Anderson University. He began full-time duties at Edgefield First on Oct. 24.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ronald Vaughan

RONALD “DEE” VAUGHAN has been called by St. Andrews Baptist Church, Columbia, as senior pastor. A native of Greenville, Vaughan is a graduate of Furman University and Southeastern Seminary. He has served as a pastor since 1982, most recently at Parisview Baptist Church, Greenville. He is a frequent writer for LifeWay Christian Resources and has taught at North Greenville and Anderson universities. He and his wife Linda, a native of Gaffney, have three children: Elizabeth, Josh, and Andrew, and one grandson, Liam. Vaughan will begin his ministry at St. Andrews on Dec. 1.
