A weekend conference set for March 2-3, 2012, at Anderson University will provide vocational guidance and inspiration to the “next generation of spiritual leaders.”

The “Call 2 Ministry” conference is open to any high school, college or seminary student who believes God is calling him or her to a Christian-related vocation.

The event will “give students the opportunity to meet men and women who are serving in a variety of ministry roles,” said Jack Eason, organizer. “These proven leaders will lead sessions on key topics designed to guide students to prepare for the ministry God has called them to.”

Eason said conference participants will hear from missionaries who will “inspire students to consider ministry to people groups and places they’ve never dreamed of before.” Other speakers will include Jeff Iorg, president of Golden Gate Seminary, visual artist Kerry Jackson, and Foster Christy, a former Auburn University fullback and popular Christian speaker. Anderson University’s praise group, “Mosaic,” will lead in worship.

“Helping young adults understand and clarify God’s call is essential for our future,” said Iorg. “We must continually discover and train new generations of ministry leaders to expand the kingdom around the world.”

Bob Cline, vice president for Christian life at Anderson University, said the conference will be an opportunity for young people to learn “valuable life lessons from seasoned role models who have responded to God’s call in their own lives.”

Breakout sessions will feature Iorg, Jackson and Christy, as well as Anderson University faculty and staff members and others addressing a variety of topics, including, “Unique Issues for Women in Ministry,” “Confirming God’s Call in My Life,” “A Man After God’s Own Heart,” “Using Art in Worship,” and “Using Writing to Impact People.”

Partner ministries and organizations for the event include Anderson University, LifeWay Christian Resources, the South Carolina Baptist Convention and the North American Mission Board. Eason, who leads The Crossover Group, a teaching and training ministry based in Spartanburg, was a NAMB consultant for six years.

The event begins with registration on Friday at 5:45 p.m. and concludes on Saturday at 4:10 p.m. Registration is $40. For more information, or to register, visit call2ministry.com or call 888-765-4487.
