
Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Kingstree, celebrated “Louisa Tyler Day” on Oct. 2, in honor of her 41 years of service as Sunday school secretary. Tyler, who celebrated her 90th birthday earlier in the week, received a certificate of appreciation and a gift, as well as a luncheon following the service. North Myrtle Beach First Baptist Church held an ocean baptism on Oct. 23, with nearly 100 in attendance. Pastor John Gambrell and family minister Dwayne Haynes baptized a family of four, and former pastor Harold Mitchell assisted his son Hal in baptizing grandsons Cage and Banks.

The children of Barker’s Creek Baptist Church, Honea Path, brought more than 100 boxes of toys and special treats to the front of the sanctuary on Nov. 13. The items were donated by church members to be sent to children around the world through Operation Christmas Child.

Beauford Baptist Church, McBee, recently honored Ruth Kirkley for 30 years of perfect Sunday school attendance. Tim Williams is pastor at Beauford.

The children at Long Branch Baptist Church, Anderson, recently visited Slone’s Blessings as part of their regular Wednesday night Bible study. They dressed in biblical costumes and enjoyed seeing animals from biblical times.

Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church, Union, held a special service on Oct. 30 to honor emergency personnel in the city and county of Union, as well as the Cross Keys fire department. Guest speakers included Sheriff David Taylor, police Chief Sam White of the City of Union, and reserve county deputy and fireman John Flood. Apalache Baptist Church, Greer, held a dedication service on Oct. 23 for 247 caps to be used as witnessing tools by Charleston Association’s international seafarer ministry. The caps, which were made by WMU members and other ladies in the church, were delivered to the association along with homemade cookies. The WMU members who made the delivery were shown a presentation about the seafarer ministry by director Gary Mathis and chaplain Christopher Dale.

Members from Pleasant Meadow Baptist Church, Loris, recently visited the Extended Care Center in Loris as part of the church’s “We’re Here For You” outreach, where they brought gifts of toiletry items and spent time with the residents.

Students at Spartanburg Christian Academy, located on the campus of North Spartanburg First Baptist Church, recently participated in the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions. Each student, kindergarten through 4th grade, made a bank for collecting donations, which totaled more than $1,500.
