
The WMU of Maple Cane Baptist Church, Cottageville, held their annual “We’re Here for You” day on Nov. 12, preparing a meal for a member of their community who suffers from an autoimmune disorder.


Mechanicsville Baptist Church, Darlington, recently baptized 12 individuals who made professions of faith over the past three months. Frankie Tanner, in his 16th year as pastor at Mechanicsville, “looks forward to baptizing more” in the new year.

Union Baptist Church, Marion, was recognized for its support of the Dillon County Free Medical Clinic on Nov. 27. Pictured are Johnnie Luehrs and Ernie Barrentine, of the clinic’s board of directors, presenting a certificate of appreciation for the church to deacon chairman Dennis Ard.

Ridge Spring Baptist Church, Ridge Association, recognized Dallas Cone Jr. on Nov. 27 for more than 50 years of service as Sunday school director and more than 65 years of service in Sunday school. He received a standing ovation from the congregation for his service to four generations of members. Oakdale Baptist Church, Rock Hill, distributed 425 turkeys and bags of Thanksgiving-meal groceries on Nov. 22. The gospel was shared with all who came, and 40 people accepted Christ. Peniel Baptist Church, Timmonsville, held a baptism service on Oct. 16, where member Carroll Altman baptized two of his granddaughters – Ashlynn, 9, and Leslie, 16. Lyn Anderson is pastor at Peniel.

The College and Career group from First Baptist Church, Springfield, recently sponsored a free after-Thanksgiving meal for the community. Members of all ages from Springfield First and Pleasant Hill Baptist Church prepared and served more than 440 turkey dinners to people who walked in and to shut-ins and elderly in the community. “Love it when churches work together for the kingdom!” said Glenn Metts, pastor at Pleasant Hill. John Yorio (shown preparing the turkeys) works with the College and Career group and is associate pastor at Springfield First, where Stephen Gantt is pastor.

The children and adults of Washington Baptist Church, Pelzer, recently participated in the Christmas prisoner packet ministry for South Carolina inmates. A total of 552 packets were assembled by the volunteers.
