The youth of Hunt’s Memorial Baptist Church, Easley, visited homebound members on Feb. 25, including Ethel Taylor (center), who will celebrate her 100th birthday in May. The youth brought “lots of love, hugs, smiles, prayers, gifts baskets, candy baskets, and even sang ‘Jesus Loves Me,’?” said youth leader Wanda Wiles, who added that the visits were also a blessing to the youth and their leaders.

 

Members of the student ministry group at Kelleytown Baptist Church, Hartsville, recently traveled to Winterplace, W.Va., for “Feeling the Chill,” their annual winter ski retreat. The theme for this year was “Faith that Works,” from James 2:24. Daniel Henderson is youth pastor at Kelleytown.

 

Hillcrest Baptist Church, Williston, recognized Rita Matlock on Feb. 26 for 25 years of service as church treasurer. Presenting a plaque of appreciation to her on behalf of the congregation is pastor David Palmer.

 

Kaytlin Caldwell of Fairforest Baptist Church, Union, received a medal and a gift bag on March 11 for memorizing 100 Bible verses. She is a member of the church’s Diggin’ Deep Bible Club.

 

Three Union-area congregations recently came together for a joint worship service at Padgett’s Creek Baptist Church. Ministers taking part in the service were (from left) Carrol Caldwell of Padgett’s Creek; Jesse Irby and J.L. Peake of Mt. Calvary Church, Cross Keys; and Jimmy Farmer of New Hope Baptist Church, Cross Anchor.

 

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Conway, celebrated a total of 56 visitors during the month of February. The names of all visitors and the members who invited them were added to a “tree” placed in the sanctuary to keep track of the total. Pictured are the two members with the most visitors – Evelyn Stalvey (right), with 23, and Tim Hutson, 21.

 

Barker’s Creek Baptist Church, Honea Path, hosted two guest speakers on Feb. 26. Nancy Dill (left) spoke on the subjects of abuse and redemption, and Sharon Fields-McCormick addressed the topic of sexual exploitation of children. Fields-McCormick is a member of the Mission Service Corps of the North American Mission Board. Pictured with Dill and Fields-McCormick is pastor Wesley Taylor.

 

The WMU of Bethel Baptist Church, Olanta, organized a unique fundraiser called “Feed the Pigs” to help promote the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering. Each church family received a “pig” to “dress” and “feed,” and a total of $580 was collected – bringing their total Lottie Moon offering to $2,240.15. Rising Sun Community Church, an “apartment church” located in Myrtle Beach, celebrated its one-year anniversary on Jan. 8. Tom Sees, pastor, planted the church in January of 2011.

 

Pictured in the first photo are children, youth and adult members of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Conway, who presented a Christmas play titled “The Holy One” on Dec. 18. During October and November, they collected canned goods to distribute throughout their community (second photo), and in December the youth hayride featured caroling and delivering fruit baskets.
