Coleman Catoe, vice president of legal services with the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina, has announced his retirement effective May 18.
CatoeCatoe joined the foundation in 2000, bringing 25 years of estate law experience, both in private practice and in the probate court system. During his 12-year tenure with the foundation, Catoe has assisted numerous pastors, staff and church members in providing advice and assistance in preparing their estates.
He also has educated congregations and other groups about the importance of leaving a legacy through estate giving, and has provided counsel on many legal matters relating to the foundation’s work.
“Coleman’s servant heart and love for the Lord is evident in everything he does,” said Barry Edwards, Baptist Foundation president and CEO. “He has impeccable integrity and is truly one of the finest men I have ever known.
“You can never replace a Coleman. He will be sorely missed by the staff and by those he has helped over the years.”
A deacon at First Baptist Church, Columbia, Catoe said he is looking forward to enjoying his family, continuing his active work in his church, and becoming more involved in missions projects.
