Letter: Land shouldn’t apologize

The Baptist Courier

Richard Land’s apology is a slap in the face to those he represents, and I am deeply disturbed by it (“Land’s comments on Trayvon Martin shooting meet with commission’s regret, investigation,” March 1). There was nothing in his original statement that was offensive, and we need to continue to be able to speak the truth without fear of repercussions. The day we allow political correctness to rule in our convention will be the day we lose our witness for Christ. I think Mr. Land should apologize to those he represents in the convention and make it clear that we will always stand on truth.
