Year-to-date contributions through the Cooperative Program continue to run above budgeted goals for the South Carolina Baptist Convention.
In the first five months of 2012, CP giving was 3.14 percent above budgeted needs for the year and 3.37 percent ahead of contributions received during the same time period in 2011, according to figures released by Pam Carroll, the SCBC’s chief financial officer.
Through May 31, SCBC churches have forwarded $12,247,872 toward a $28.5 million state CP budget. (For a detailed report on first-quarter giving for 2012, visit www.scbaptist.org/givingreports.)
“South Carolina Baptists continue to demonstrate a strong commitment to cooperative ministries,” said Jim Austin, SCBC executive director-treasurer. “This commitment exhibits itself through a variety of channels, one being the Cooperative Program, which exists as the primary funding mechanism of all of our cooperative work.
“We rejoice that God’s people continue to exhibit strong faithfulness by giving sacrificially through this ministry-enhancing channel.”
