Mary Beth Oxendine, 74, of Central, S.C., passed away on Sept. 20, 2026.
A native of Burlington, Iowa, she earned a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and began a career teaching elementary school students. After that, she devoted herself to raising her family and being a homemaker.
After her children were grown, she turned her attention to helping young mothers through encouragement and mentorship. She also shared her faith by witnessing to those in her community. In later years, she focused on her WGGS cooking show, “Cooking with Mrs. O.” She also compiled a cookbook and had a monthly column in The Baptist Courier, “Mary Beth’s Kitchen,” from 2018-2020.
She was a member of Cannon Memorial Baptist Church of Central.
Survivors include a son, a daughter, and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, Tom Oxendine; and a granddaughter, Ansleigh Schmidt.
