Kyle Caudell, pastor of North Anderson Baptist Church, will be nominated for president-elect of the South Carolina Baptist Convention at its Nov. 9–10 annual meeting at Riverland Hills Baptist Church in Irmo. Mark Krieger, pastor of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church in Belton, plans to nominate Caudell, citing his pastoral ministry, convention service and encouragement of fellow pastors.
Krieger has known Caudell for more than nine years since meeting through the Saluda Baptist Association. They have preached in one another’s churches and served together in the South Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference, with Caudell serving as treasurer during Krieger’s presidency. Krieger described him as a “faithful preacher of God’s Word and faithful pastor of God’s people.”
“I am nominating Kyle Caudell for president-elect of the South Carolina Baptist Convention because I have witnessed his love for Christ, the local church, and our Convention,” Krieger said.
Citing Caudell’s associational and state convention leadership, Krieger said his commitment to gospel advance and concern for pastors would benefit South Carolina Baptists. “Kyle is always looking for a way to connect and pray with other pastors,” he said.
Caudell said he had not pursued serving as convention president but prayerfully considered nomination after conversations with respected fellow pastors. “If the Lord wills, I would consider it a great honor to serve,” he said.
Grateful for the convention’s past work and present ministries, Caudell expressed enthusiasm for its future. “I could not be more excited about the direction our state is heading as we march into the future,” he said.
Caudell sees South Carolina’s growing population as an opportunity for churches to advance the gospel among their neighbors. He described the convention’s churches as diverse but united by Baptist convictions and a shared mission. If elected, he hopes to encourage a “renewed commitment to doctrinal clarity” and Great Commission partnership to help churches “impact lostness in South Carolina.”
Caudell has pastored North Anderson Baptist Church for five years and served South Carolina churches for 17 years, following ministry in Georgia. He has served as treasurer and president of the South Carolina Baptist Pastors’ Conference, moderator of the Saluda Association, and a member and officer of the SCBC Executive Board.
The church’s 2025 Annual Church Profile reported 16 baptisms — more than 12 percent of its average weekly worship attendance — and $47,617.15 in Cooperative Program contributions, approximately 9.1 percent of undesignated receipts.
Caudell and his wife, Annette, have three married adult children and five grandchildren. Annette serves as women’s ministry director for Haven of Rest, a residential, Christ-centered ministry providing hope, healing and recovery for women facing homelessness, addiction and other life-dominating problems.
