
Ravenwood Baptist Church, Columbia, held Vacation Bible School July 9-13, reporting an average attendance of around 50 and several professions of faith.

A team from Calvary Baptist Church, Barnwell, recently traveled to Richwood, W.Va., for a mission trip. They conducted Vacation Bible School, distributed 200 book bags to needy children, and served meals on two occasions. The host church was Richwood Baptist Chapel, believed to be the first Southern Baptist church in that Appalachian town. The mission team is pictured at Calvary Baptist, where they gathered to pray before leaving for West Virginia.

Powdersville First Baptist Church ordained Buddy Robbins to the ministry on June 3 in a special service led by pastor Brad Atkins, left. Seated with Robbins is his wife, Debbie, as deacons of the church come forward to pray and lay hands on Robbins.

North Cheraw Baptist Church, Chesterfield Association, held Vacation Bible School June 22-26, with a total enrollment of 105. To kick off VBS week, participants traveled to the Cheraw airport to view the cockpit of an airplane. Pat Crowe is VBS director and Mike Williams is pastor at North Cheraw.

First Baptist Church, Camden, celebrated 20 years of ministry with pastor Bruce Hancock and his wife, Pat. Hancock is the longest-serving pastor in the church’s 202-year history.

Fort Lawn Baptist Church, Chester Association, recently held Vacation Bible School, with the theme “Amazing Wonders Aviation.”

A team of 44 adults and children from First Baptist Church, Georgetown, traveled to Bluffton in June to work with the staff of Crosspoint Church. They set up at two locations, providing a sports camp and an Amazing Adventures Vacation Bible School/backyard Bible club. About 100 children participated in the two events, which resulted in many decisions for Christ. “Our team and church family wish to say thank you to Red Dam Baptist for housing our team during the week, and to the Southeast Baptist Association for the use of the disaster relief shower unit,” said Keith Wall, associate pastor at First Baptist, Georgetown. This was the church’s sixth annual family mission trip.

Crescent Hill Baptist Church, Columbia, held Vacation Bible School June 25-29, with the theme “Amazing Wonders Aviation.” A total of $253.63 was collected during the week, and two VBS participants made decisions to join the church.

Davidson Street Baptist Church, Clinton, recently ordained and commissioned Matt and Katie Freeman as church planters. He was minister of music and she was student minister at Davidson Street. They will be working through the South Carolina Baptist Convention, North American Mission Board and Liberty University to plant a church in the West Columbia area. Davidson Street has also helped sponsor Transformation Church in Laurens Association and is helping start a church in Burkina Faso, West Africa. With the Freemans is pastor Kenny Moore, left.

The youth of Barker’s Creek Baptist Church, Honea Path, traveled to Myrtle Beach July 25-29 for a mission trip. Their activities included handing out tracts to residents and asking for prayer requests, visiting a local Boys and Girls Club and sharing the gospel with elderly residents at an assisted living facility. The youth worked with Street Reach Ministries to prepare and serve a meal to the homeless, as well as witness to them, and they passed out free lemonade to families and young people on the beach. They also had daily times of worship and devotionals, with prayer time for the city, the store owners, and beach visitors.

“Amazing Wonders Aviation” was the theme for Vacation Bible School at Latta Baptist Church July 15-19. A total of 182 were enrolled for the week, with an average attendance of 139. The girls and boys participated in a contest to raise money for Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, giving a combined total of $436.21.
